2019 First Man on the Moon 1 Mile, 5K, 10K, 13.1, 26.2 *THIS IS A VIRTUAL RACE! July 20, 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the first humans landing on the Moon on July 20, 1969  as part of NASA's Apollo 11 lunar mission.  We at Moon Joggers are super excited to celebrate this historic event with our First Man On the Moon 1 Mile, 5K, 10K, 13.1, 26.2!    We will be donating at least 15% of each registration to the Challenger Center. In  the aftermath of the Challenger accident, the crew’s families came together, firmly committed to the belief that they must carry on the spirit of their loved ones by continuing the Challenger crew’s educational mission. Their efforts resulted in the creation of Challenger Center for Space Science Education. Challenger Center and its global network of Challenger Learning Centers use space-themed simulated learning and role-playing strategies to help students bring their classroom studies to life and cultivate skills needed for future success, such as problem solving, critical thinking, communication and teamwork. Challenger Center reaches hundreds of thousands of students, and tens of thousands of teachers every year. *For a limited time get your official t-shirt and/or hoodieHERE. When individuals with High Functioning Asperger’s Syndrome have the proper supports in place they can live meaningful lives. They have much to contribute to society, when able to do so, from a place of strength. They are ‘out of the box’ thinkers and can be very innovative, providing creative, detailed descriptions to solve problems - within their area of interest. However, Asperger’s Syndrome can also have a serious downside when those supports, accommodations and understandings are not in place. In Anson's case, the many challenges he faced with regard to being appropriately acknowledged for his expertise and valuable contributions have resulted in five Human Rights Tribunal complaints against Canadian sport organizations and government agencies. These groups have attempted to silence him because they didn’t like aspects of his behaviour - Asperger’s Meltdowns - that were actually a direct consequence of their attitude and behaviour towards him. This situation would lead to him being diagnosed at age 38 as having this mental health syndrome, for which there is no cure. Join Jason Anson as he shares his personal story of Asperger’s and the strengths and weaknesses associated with it, of how he bumped in the dark throughout the first part of his life but now has a blueprint to be successful moving forward. General Admission - CA$10.00
