Join Outpost to help end hunger. Reserve your spot and volunteer for an afternoon at The Farm! Hunger Task Force operates a 200 year old historic farm in Franklin. Each year, during the growing season they grow and harvest hundreds of thousands of pounds of fresh vegetables and fruit - all of which is donated FREE to local food pantries, homeless shelters and soup kitchens in Milwaukee. Farm work is not possible without the help of hundreds of farm volunteers each year. Activities CAN include preparing new plants in the greenhouse, planting, harvesting, fish hatchery work, weeding and more! Please keep in mind the following: Rain or shine! Activities will involve a lot of bending and stretching, must be in good physical condition. Dress appropriately for working outdoors according to the day's weather forecast. Layers are recommended, as is clothing that allows maximum flexibility. A hat is highly recommended when working outdoors. No open toed shoes or sandals are allowed. Bring along portable water bottle that you can carry along. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older. Chaperones must also fill out a volunteer application. Light refreshments will be provided by Outpost! Carpool if you can!  To get to the Farm! Our group is hosting an adult formal, for a local CHARITY, GROUP, or NON PROFIT to walk away with some extra financial support. This also allows people to come and FEEL how amazing it is to give directly to our local communities without the commitment of joining the group (but trust me, you will want to when you leave!). TICKET INCLUDES: Dinner (Catered), DJ (Midnight Magic), and the best feeling in the entire world: the feeling of giving! Beverages will be for sale by the Chaseburg Snowtrailers. Garlic Mustard and Dame’s Rocket are invasive plants that outcompete native plants for resources. Volunteers will participate in hand-pulling and bagging Garlic Mustard and Dame’s Rocket from the lake Terrance along Lake Michigan. This year there will be an individual award for longest Garlic Mustard root pulled and a team award for most Garlic Mustard and Dame’s Rocket pulled and bagged. Volunteers should wear long pants and long sleeves; gloves will be provided.We are partnering with Good City Brewery for this year’s Root Rodeo and participants 21 and over are welcome to join Schlitz Audubon and Good City staff for a free beer at the East Side Taproom after the Root Rodeo.Free to all. Registration is not necessary.
