“It’s a labor of love," Michael says, “that would not have been possible without my 40 year career on the stage, honing the crafts of storytelling and visual theater in front of thousands of audiences across the country and around the world. Dad as well as Mum were my best friends, and have always been my greatest inspirations in life, so in the wake of their passing it’s no surprise this has become my favorite show to perform. My goal is to do them both proud as I tell the remarkable story of lives so well spent, tenderly caring for each other and for the endless parade of family, friends and animals that passed their way.” This show is best suited for audiences 13 and up. FAQs What are my transport/parking options getting to the event? Parking is available on Water Street, Machanic Street and in the Arcade Parking Lot off Main Street.  Look for parking signs and follow walking signs to get to Johnson Hall. Where can I contact the organizer with any questions? Contact our box office at 207-582-7144 Monday through Wednesday noon to 3:00pm, Friday noon to 3:00pm and day of show from 5:00pm on.

Dorian Gray is the subject of a full-length portrait in oil by Basil Hallward, an artist who is impressed and infatuated by Dorian's beauty; he believes that Dorian's beauty is responsible for the new mood in his art as a painter. Through Basil, Dorian meets Lord Henry Wotton, and he soon is enthralled by the aristocrat's hedonistic world view: that beauty and sensual fulfilment are the only things worth pursuing in life. Newly understanding that his beauty will fade, Dorian expresses the desire to sell his soul, to ensure that the picture, rather than he, will age and fade. The wish is granted, and Dorian pursues a libertine life of varied and amoral experiences, while staying young and beautiful; all the while his portrait ages and records every sin. Open Book Player performs literary works in the tradition of readers theater.   FAQs What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
