THE HAWAII FARM BUREAU PRESENTS “GROWING FOR YOUR FUTURE” THE 57th ANNUAL HAWAII STATE FARM FAIR AT KUALOA RANCH ON JULY 13 AND 14 Who: Hawaii Farm Bureau, Hawaii State Department of Agriculture and Hawaii State 4-H Livestock Council What: “Growing for Your Future” the 57TH Annual Hawaii State Farm Fair When: Saturday, July 13, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Sunday, July 14, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Where: Kualoa Ranch, 49-560 Kamehameha Hwy, Kaneohe, HI 96744 The 57th annual Hawaii State Farm Fair, sponsored by the Hawaii Farm Bureau in partnership with the Hawaii State Department of Agriculture and Hawaii State 4-H Livestock Council will be held at Kualoa Ranch on Saturday, July 13, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Sunday, July 14, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. The event, “Growing for Your Future” is free for children and students with a valid student ID. The cost is $5.00 for the general public. At 57 years young, the tradition of offering the community opportunities to enjoy learning about Hawaii’s agriculture and farming industry at one of Hawaii’s premier ranches is an event for all ages to enjoy. Fairgoers can visit the Department of Agriculture’s “Buy Local, It Matters” Education Pavilion for amazing exhibits and shopping from local vendors. There will be some of the freshest locally grown produce and most diverse plants at the Kamehameha Schools’ Country Market and Plant Sale. And people will enjoy amazing local food, including the ever-popular, grass-fed beef burgers from Kualoa Ranch. Keiki will be able to see and enjoy live animals up close, including steer, goats, chickens, pigs and more in the 4-H Livestock Tent. There will also be festive music, entertainment acts, demonstrations and fun-filled, on-stage contests like watermelon eating, corn husking and chili pepper eating. There will also be pony rides, bouncers and hands on opportunities for kids to enjoy Farm-filled fun at the Keiki Hands on the Farm activity. The Keiki Hands on the Farm exhibit gives young children a chance to experience what a day on the farm is like, along with milking a life-sized cow (replica), a chick hatchery with live chicks and more. The 2019 Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festival at Windward Mall will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Kaneohe's Windward Mall. This festival will begin at 1 P.M. and feature five NextGen steel guitar players and musicians age 10 and older and five favorite steel guitar masters from Oahu singing and playing Hawaii's favorite Hawaiian music. Steel guitar masters sharing their talents will be Alan Akaka and the Islanders, Steve Cheney, Bobby Ingano and the Bobby Ingano Trio, Paul Kim and the Waimanalo Sunset Band, and Greg Sardinha and Pookela. The festival will be live-streamed on Facebook by Huana Productions and will available from the festival's Facebook Page. This festival will be presented free to the public by Hawaii Institute for Music Enrichment and Learning Experiences (HIMELE) and the Windward Mall. This year's festival will follow the Spring Concert of the Ke Kula Mele Hawaii School of Hawaiian Music. This concert will feature student musicians on ukulele, bass and Hawaiian steel guitar in an hour of Hawaiian music entertainment. This one-hour concert will begin at 11 A.M., and is also free to the public.

Since the Spring of 2015, Hui o Koolaupoko has been working at the mouth of Heeia Stream to clear invasive mangrove and other non-native plants in an effort to restore stream flow, re-plant native plants and improve habitat for native aquatic species and shorebirds.
