Agenda: Check back soon for details! 4:30-5pm  Check-In 5-8:15pm  Course Speaker: Henry Lozano, PT, DPT Henry is the Director of Rehabilitation at Capital View Transitional Care Center, a 32-bed TCU/Sub-Acute Care Unit located within Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota.  Henry graduated from Montclair State University in 1988 with a Bachelor in Chemistry and Biology; New York University Physical Therapy program in 1992. He obtained his Doctor of Physical Therapy advanced degree from Boston University in 2006.  Henry has been an Associate Faculty at the University of Minnesota’s Doctor of Physical Therapy Program since 1998 teaching Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation.  He has presented seminars on several topics including:  Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation, Stroke Rehabilitation, and Rehabilitation Management, in various states since 1999.  Henry is a dynamic speaker who brings current treatment strategies that are evidence based and patient management ideas that you can use in your practice tomorrow. Course Description: Taking vital signs is a most basic, yet most important activity to be practiced in all therapy clinics. The vital signs are a key component that would allow us to determine the physiological status of our patient before, during, and after the therapy session. In this short course the participants will leave with a brief review of the physiology associated with BP, HR, RR and oxymetry readings and what they mean during  a therapy intervention. The course will review the basics of vital signs and what's normal and what is not. The participants will also have the opportunity to practice the basic vital signs. So please bring your stethoscope and BP cuff to the course.  Objectives: By the end of this lecture participants will be able to: 1.List the benefits of monitoring the vital signs 2.Understand the basic physiology associated with BP, HR, RR, and oximetry readings. 3.List the risks of not monitoring vital signs before, during, and after a therapy session 4.Reference the normal vital signs values and parameters 5.Accurately monitor and measure BP, RR, and Oximetry readings, heart auscultation 6.List the modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors for  HTN and ASCVD Non-employee/Centrex On-call Therapist Cancellation policy: Cancellations received at least five or more working days before the event are refundable, minus a $20 administrative charge per registrant.  There is no refund for cancellations received less than five working days before the start of course. A refund or voucher will be issued to any participant who is registered to attend a seminar that is cancelled by Centrex Rehab. Centrex Employee Cancellation Policy: Centrex requires a one month cancellation notice from the registered employee.    Centrex will allow one emergency cancellation per employee every 2 years without penalty (i.e. you or family member is sick, car died, etc.) Any no show or cancellation without proper notice and beyond the one allowed emergency cancellation will be subject to a $50 cancellation fee. You do not need to bring a ticket to the course with you.

In 2005, she became a Geriatric Certified Specialist through the American Board of Physical Therapy and re-certified in 2014. In addition, she became a Certified Exercise Expert for Aging Adults in 2011. She is a member of APTA, Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy member and has been active in the Minnesota chapter in various capacities. Debbie completed a transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Regis University in Denver, CO in 2012.  She is passionate about health promotion and injury/illness prevention especially in the area of fall prevention. Course Description:  Check back soon for details! Objectives:  Identify demographics and risk factors for falls among older adults. Demonstrate knowledge of appropriate therapy screening and evaluation for fall risk, fall risk reduction and fall prevention following best practice using clinical practice guidelines, clinical practice statements and research. Demonstrate knowledge of interventions for fall prevention in areas of medicine, pharmacy, psychology, rehabilitation, & nursing to identify and make appropriate referrals for the older adult client/patient. Each year, we host a Nation Building Celebration; a gathering that brings together Tribal leaders, grassroots Native leaders, local and state lawmakers, and members of the general public to network, learn, and gather resources related to leadership and nation building. This year’s Nation Building Celebration will focus on community engagement strategies for strengthening sovereignty! The convening will take place on November 9, 2018 at Mystic Lake Center in Prior Lake, Minnesota. On the evening of November 8, 2018, we’ll host a Rebuilders Dinner at Mystic Lake Center to celebrate and honor our Native Nation Rebuilders. Need-based scholarships available upon request. Hope for Recovery | Print Flyer Obtain information about mental illnesses, treatments, crisis management, suicide prevention, the mental health system and local resources along with practical strategies for helping a loved one or friend. This includes learning the LEAP strategy for improving communication: Listen, Empathize, Agree-on what you can, and Partner. This workshop is for family and friends of a teen or adult living with a mental illness and people living with a mental illness who are doing well in their recovery.
