Featured Speaker: Sarah Jaycox Hartong Corporations rely on Boards of Directors to mitigate risk, advise on vision and strategy, and inform major decisions. Why not do that for your own career and business, too? In this workshop, we explore the idea of creating and leveraging a Personal Board of Directors: a group who you trust to expand your view, inform hard questions with candor, and be sincere and credible guideposts as you grow your business. We’ll share how other women have created and leveraged theirs, and the impact it’s had. We’ll talk about what it is, the best way to build and structure your own, and discuss how and when to put your Board into action. You’ll leave the workshop with a clear path and a set of tools to start creating and activating your own Personal Board of Directors as you travel your road to success. 3 Takeaways: 1. A Personal Boards of Directors is a unique way to leverage the skills, thought-power and diversity in your network to drive meaningful professional growth. 2. A Personal BoD can alleviate the stress of “going it alone” that entrepreneurs, in particular, often feel by building a trusted, small, tight-knit professional community with a clear purpose. 3. There are many ways to create and activate the right type of BoD for you and your business - from formal to informal, structured to unstructured, local to virtual. The key is to do it with intention. With a career spanning two decades, Sarah Jaycox Hartong is a communications expert who has coached executives at Google, Starwood Hotels, Morgan Stanley, Medtronic, Apple, and other Fortune 100 companies, as well as leaders at start-ups of all sizes and types. She has served as a trusted advisor on all aspects of communication: leadership brand, executive presence, managing and building teams, setting strategy, and driving culture. She developed a particular area of focus in counseling and coaching next-gen leaders and female executives, facilitating top-talent retreats, and working with individuals pre- and post-parental/family/sick leave. Until recently, she was on the executive team of SNP Communications, a San Francisco-based international leadership communication company that produced the first podcast on record in 1994. During her tenure, she opened and managed the New York office, and later the Midwest branch. Prior to that, she was a management consultant at Webb Management Services, a leading consultancy for the planning and development of performing arts and creative entities.
