Treating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder from an ACT/RFT Perspective A Workshop with Andrew D'Amico, Ph.D. Presented by the Delaware Valley ACT Learners and the PA Chapter of ACBS  at Widener University  Sunday, July 14th 10AM to Noon Cost: Free Program Abstract: World-wide studies have found lifetime prevalence rates for OCD to vary between two to three percent-about one in every forty people. Recent findings have shown much promise in the use of contextual behavioral approaches such as ACT, CFT, and RFT to strengthen Exposure and Response Prevention throughout the course of treatment. This introductory training is oriented towards therapists who have some familiarity with adult and child forms of OCD. Using experiential role plays, metaphor, and exercises, we will illustrate and practice altering the context via language, implementing the six processes of the hexaflex, and incorporating a more mindfulness-compassionate approach when conducting challenging exposures with our clients. Participants will be invited to discuss and to learn through hands-on demonstrations.  Presenter: Andy D’Amico:  Andy has been in practice for thirty-five years. He specializes in the use of mindfulness-acceptance based therapies in the treatment of children, adolescents, adults, parents, and families. He has been trained and mentored by some of the leading cognitive-behavioralists.  A seasoned behavioral and family therapist, he specializes in the treatment of childhood and adult conditions such as obsessive-compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, and impulse-related disorders.  Notes:  Please note that there are no continuing education credits available for this event.
