Spring Oregon Beach Cleanup, presented by AAA Oregon - SOLVE - Sat Mar 24 at 10:00AM SAVE THE DATE! On Saturday, March 24, 2018, from 10AM 1PM, thousands of volunteers will come together for a day at the beach! We ll be clearing the coast of litter and marine debris at 45 locations stretching from Astoria in the North, all the way to Brookings in the South. SOLVE s Spring Oregon Beach Cleanup, presented by AAA Oregon has been a family-friendly tradition for over thirty years! Each of the 45 locations offers a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and explore the Oregon coast, all while making a positive difference for marine animals, coastal communities and the health of our entire ocean! Supplies and instructions are provided at each check in location and all ages and abilities are encouraged to join in! This event is free, so bring your sheers and learn how to prune and propagate the vines. On Saturday, April 21, 2018 thousands of volunteers will come together to care for Oregon during our states largest Earth Day event, SOLVE IT for Earth Day, presented by Portland General Electric. Across the state, Oregon s coast and natural areas continue to face threats from diminishing wildlife habitat, invasive plants, and litter, which flows downstream to rivers and out to the ocean. By volunteering you re helping to preserve and improve our state for today and for tomorrow. Join us in the effort to take care of our home by volunteering at a local project, or make the event into an adventure by exploring our state while making a difference. With over 100 projects set to happen across Oregon there is no shortage of ways to get involved! SOLVE projects are community driven and focus on cleaning up and restoring natural areas and neighborhoods with hands-on work. Hardman earned her BA in Psychology from Drake and later obtained MBA.  She earned both the SPHR and the newly advanced SHRM-SCP HR certifications and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management on both a national and local level. Hardman’s community involvement includes Trustee for Des Moines University, Advisory Board member for the Governor and Billie D. Ray Center, Greater Des Moines Partnership’s Diversity Committee (past member) Board Member of the Latino Leadership Initiative. Des Moines Chapter of The Links,5th Judicial Nomination Commission -- Governor Appointee, and member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  She is past President of the Chrysalis Foundation and longtime volunteer and past Board Member for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Des Moines. Her list of awards and honors is long, including 2014 Iowa Women’s Hall of Fame inductee, Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute’s Alumni Volunteer Award, DMU’s Diversity Champion Award, Connie Wimer Spirit Award, President Obama’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drum Major of Service Award and many others. Business Skills “The What and How of Workplace Success" What helps to support and define workplace success - both technical and interpersonal skills which are often referred to as business skills.    This session will explore the importance of being able to “get the job done” while effectively collaborating with others.   This is an interactive workshop that will support your individual assessment of your business skills.      About the Workshop Presenter .. This workshop is being presented by Human Resource Professional Ernestine Harris.  Ernestine Harris has had the opportunity to work for a variety of businesses such as: PPG Industries, Carnegie Mellon University, Digital Equipment Corporation and PNC Bank.   As a Human Resources Director for GlaxoSmithKline, Ernestine led the delivery of HR interventions for Research and Development, both in the UK and U.S. Ernestine drove and embedded the importance of ongoing learning as the Director leading the US and UK Human Resources Development Team.  Ernestine earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management from La Roche College.   Ernestine has been named the Health Care Business Women’s Rising Star and a Woman of Excellence by the Pittsburgh Courier. She has received four Multicultural Marketing Diversity Awards throughout her career at GlaxoSmithKline.
