Objects of Art Santa Fe, the city’s favorite summer showcase for unique, one-of-a-kind historic and contemporary works from around the world, returns August 8–11 with more than 70 prestigious gallery owners and other traders exhibiting thousands of choice art objects handmade by master artists and designers in a range of media. For the shows 10th anniversary year, the Museum of International Folk Art will curate a special exhibit on Alexander Girard in the main exhibition hall. The four-day event kicks off Thursday, August 8th with a cocktail hour benefiting the Museum of International Folk Art followed by an opening night party at El Museo Cultural de Santa Fe in the Santa Fe Railyard. The show continues from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday, August 9–11. Objects of Art Santa Fe offers a global melding of the world’s best antiquities and fine art—from ethnographic materials to modernist furniture to contemporary art and fashion. Exhibitors with expertise in global art, culture, and creativity display hand-picked objects intended to appeal to the sensibilities of modern-day collectors who are not afraid to mix the old and the new. Wednesday, July 24, 2019- 8pm There is a free 30-min recital at 7pm featuring Brahms Sonata for Violin and Piano in A Major, Op. 100 performed by violinist Augustin Hadelich and pianist Boris Giltburg. The ticketed main concert at 8pm features Beethoven Sonata for Violin and Piano in A Major, Op. 12 No. 2; Enescu Aubade for String Trio in C Major; Kodály Intermezzo for String Trio; Boulanger Lullaby et Cortége; and Strauss Quartet for Piano and Strings in C minor, Op. 13. The ticketed main concert at 8pm features Dvořák Terzetto for Two Violins and Viola in C Major, Op. 74; Chopin Sonata for Cello and Piano in G minor, Op. 65; and Rachmaninov Trio for Violin, Cello and Piano in D minor, Op. 9 “Elegiac”. On the first Friday of the Festival, more than 200 dancers and musicians from around the globe will share their folk dance traditions at Folkmoot's Grand Opening performance at Lake Junaluska's Stuart Auditorium. The Opening performance features a welcoming regional choir, a presentation of flags, eight enthusiastic dance presentations and is always full of international goodwill.
